Kera Ltd
Kera Ltd was set up in 1971 to promote and finance small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs) in the development areas of Finland.
Kera is a state-owned credit institution operating today in the
whole of Finland. Its activities are governed by a special act
which outlines the framework but gives Kera a free hand and flexibility
in its operations.
Kera has achieved a well-established and distinguished position
in the Finnish business and banking community. Kera’s role as
a financier of SMEs is linked with risk acceptance and with the
development of enterprises.
Kera mainly finances manufacturing industries, tourism and various
business services.
Kera employs 256 people with expert knowledge in business analyses
and competence in different sectors of entrepreneurship. The 15
regional offices have close contacts and good co-operation with
clients and relevant organisations throughout Finland.
Kera provides today short and long-term loans in Finnish marks
and in foreign currencies for SMEs. The terms of financing are
normally slightly softer than on the market in general, and loans
can be granted with weak collateral. Kera can also give guarantees
for loans obtained by enterprises from other sources.
The promotion of start-up enterprises and corporate development
play an important role in Kera’s operations. Development loans
are targeted at the all-round development of corporate activities.
Kera has also special loans for start-ups and for environmental
investments.
Venture capital operations play also an increasingly important
role for Kera. Kera has minority and majority holdings in several
Finnish venture capital companies. Together with its associated
and subsidiary companies Kera is the most prominent venture capitalist
in Finland.
